The nexus of the event is South Yarra, an affluent suburb on the outer fringe of Melbourne’s CBD on the south side of the Yarra river. The main shopping region of South Yarra runs along the renowned Toorak Road and Chapel Street. Trade along these two arteries are focused on trendy shopping, restaurants, nightclubs and cafe culture.

South Yarra is also home to some of Melbourne's most prestigious residential addresses where residential land price records (per square metre) have been set by various properties. South Yarra has several large mansions. Heritage registered houses include Como House (1847), one of Melbourne’s earliest mansions on a large estate managed by the National Trust. On an alternative scale, Park Street features rows of Melbourne’s best preserved, richly decorated, boom style terrace houses.
